TRAININGHow well are you communicating with your customers? I can train your team so they’ll write in crisp, memorable language that builds stronger relationships.PRACTICAL SKILLS FOR BETTER COMMUNICATIONI can make it as easy as you like. I’ll come to your offices and train your people in-house. Or you can attend one of the business writing courses I run in collaboration with Falmouth University. The training is all about learning practical writing techniques. It’s a fairly intensive process (you learn through doing not listening) but you come away with a set of techniques which you can apply to any audience and any brand: achieving the right tone, attracting your audience’s attention, building a relationship with your customers, and (most importantly) getting them to act. The training is hard work but the results are powerful, which is why a recent student said: ‘I found this course very useful and it highlighted great ways of rewriting lifeless copy into exciting new text. I would certainly recommend it to people who write for the web or produce other marketing materials.’ The training focuses on: De-cluttering – showing how to take out those words, phrases and structures that obscure meaning and make it a struggle to read. Building impact – the tricks and tools for making people pay attention to what you write. Personalising – making your audience feel you’re noticing them and talking to them (not talking into space, like too much business writing). Thinking sideways – techniques for being creative, surprising and original (without being annoying). Tone of voice – exercises to show that you can write in different voices, and working out the tone that your business should be using. Effective web writing – the challenges of writing for digital media, and how to succeed at it. |
